The guy in the picture on the right is Chris. He loves to discover new places and pretend to be some explorer.

 

So, a little bit about me. As a child, I dreamt about mountains. We never drove really far, but I loved our summers. I remember walking up a little hill near one of my family's favorite spots in Belgium and watching the sun set, looking out over what felt like all of Belgium. I think the spot was hardly two-hundred meters above sea-level, but for a Dutchie like me it felt like an honest mountain.

 

I have never stopped loving mountains. Nothing pleases me more than camping out under the stars near a lake or a river, and waking up to the sun peeking over snowcapped mountains. And of course its best to have all this for yourself, without having to share it with hordes of tourists. To ensure this I spend hours and hours researching my destinations. I love meeting people, one of the great rewards of travelling, but I don't want to meet those who squeeze the magic out of a place by treating it like an amusement park.

 

A couple of years ago, I married the beautiful Anke, who fortunately shares my love for travelling. We've seen quite a lot, but we're both still dreaming of the day we will embark on a trip with no end date.
